2962. ISAAC HOOPES, son of James and Elizabeth (Brinton) Hoopes, was born about 1832 in Adams Co., Pa. And died 16 Feb 1888 in Silver Creek, Pottawattomie Co., Ia. He is buried in Silver City Cemetery, Lot 131. Isaac married 1) on 21 Nov 1855, CELIA HUNTSMAN, about whom we have no information. He married 2) in Colesburg, Delaware Co., Ia. on 24 Sep 1863 REBECCA J. FARR, the daughter of Moses and Mary Ann (Hatfield) Farr, born Aug 1846 in Fayette Co., Pa. She died about 1915, probably in Omaha, Neb.
Isaac was raised on a farm in Adams Co. and learned the trade of wagon maker and blacksmith. In 1853 he went to Delaware Co., Ia. Where he married Celia Huntsman. After his marriage to Rebecca Farr, a school teacher, they moved to Oskaloosa, Ia. And lived on a farm there until, in 1876, they moved to Pottawattomie Co., Ia. and bought a 160-acre tract of wild land to farm. Isaac was killed on his farm in Silver Creek by a runaway team of horses and after his death Rebecca managed the farm with the help of her son Willis. Isaac and Rebecca were believers in Christian Science and Republicans.
