- Per account given by Claudia Lamb Childs in "History of Twiggs Co.", p. 418. Studied medicine at Belleview Hospital, NYC., and established a successful practice in Cochran, Ga.
Per "Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Ga.", Muster roll, Co. C, 4th Reg Ga. Vol Infantry, Army N. Va., CSA. "Twiggs Co. Vols"(Volume 1, p. 576); enlisted as private 25 Apr 1861. Transferred to serve as landsman on Steamer Virginia. 10 Feb Feb 1862. Served in Confederate Navy at Charleston, Va. and Drewry's Bluff, Va. in 1864.
