DEATH CERTIFICATE IN POSESSION OF PATRON
Dodge County was created in 1870. She could not possibly have been
born in Dodge County. Within the future boundaries yes.
In Jody(Hood)Jensen's record of Mary, Mary is shown to be born in
    Yonkers,Wilkinson,Georgia
In Jody Jensen's record Seal-to-Parents is; Sub 14 apr 1999
By Sam Hood as narrated to Bertha Hood 25 Aug 1963
    LOOK:
Auburn hair and grey eyes,Short legged and long bobied. Her husband
was short bodied and long legged.

Never had a chance to go to school. Born just before Civil War and was
when South was building up after war. Could read a little but not write. Her
father arthritis during Civil War and was in Army went down to Darian
(pronounced Dairy - Ann) and worked in salt works during the war. When
Sherman came through they heard him and dynamited the salt works and
escaped in the forest. (Sherman began his march on 15 Nov 1864 and ended
in Savannah, Ga. 21 Dec 1864).

Her home was little out of the way of the Sherman Army didn't get
    burned or destroyed.

Her father was quite well to do. The home she was raised in was a well
built log cabin her mother had gotten from the "Morgan Estate" before she
    was married.

She had the coldest well in county. Water was so cold they lost several
animals from drinking water right from that well.

This home was in Dodge county one mile north of Younkers.
    ("Younkers"Same spelling as from original)

Her home she was raised in what farming was done was done by the girls
and her mother Emily Rogers. (Emily Rogers was her grandmother. Her
mother was Robert Ann Rogers (Morgan) Lamb).

When she and Elijah Ballard (Hood) were married they moved to
homestead where Sampson Parker lived in.

Very pleasant disposition and lovely singing voice, Very beautiful when
young, Had the prettiest natural wavy auburn hair. Very high forehead.

She was a Baptist. When she was 17 years old she went to a dance and
the church cut her off because she wouldn't say she was sorry and never
    joined another church until L.D.S.

Lots of Christian Science people in neighborhood. Once dad
(Elijah Ballard) was very sick and called members from the church. Brother
John T. Bates and his wife and they for dad and he was healed.

They were the first family to join the church when L.D.S. missionaries
came around. But his father-in-law was really angry about it and one time
was hiding in bushes to kill Elder Green. Said he would shoot a hole so big
a buzzard a buzzard could fly right through him and not get a drop of blood.
But as he was hiding in the bushes a man came along and asked him what he
was doing and he said he was going to kill the Elder (Mormon) for baptizing
his son-in-law (John T. Bates), The man talked him out of it and took him
    home.

    FIRST L. D. S. MISSIONARIES

Elder Henry Bronson of Fairview, Idaho. Elder R.L. Jensen, Brigham City
Utah, Elder B. F. Stewart; Elder Justin Green and Elder George A. Mathews
    of Arizona.

They (Elders Bronson and Jensen) had been three days and nights without
food and were trying to get across the O'Connor and Elder Bronson drowned.

When Elders first came Elijah Barfield (Ballard) Hood was moving a house
(had a house moving party) Elders came and helped. At dinner they refused
coffee and got to talking and passed out literature. Parkers, Hoods, W.E.Hart.
Buckins, Horne the names of first families to join church here.
Hoods liked what missionaries said and were soon baptized.

From the Questions and answers to a letter written to Sam Hood
by Bertha in December 1961; (see below)
Was grandfather Floyd Lamb a doctor?
    A. Yes, he was an M.D. He practiced around Younker, Ga. He was not a
Mormon. I was baptized for him in 1916 in Salt Lake Temple and did his
work for him. His wife died in 1922.

From FLOYD LAMB AND ROBERT ANN ROGERS (MORGAN)
AS TOLD BY SAM HOOD IN AN INTERVIEW
BY BERTHA HOOD SMITH 24 AUG 1963, UKIAH, CALIFORNIA
Brother lived in Cochran. Jack Lamb was a medical doctor.

His father was quite wealthy used to own the "Lamb Mills" grist mill up
of Gum Swamp on the Little Ocmulge northeast of Cochran in Twiggs or
    Wilkinson County.

LOOKS: I remember him with gray and white beard, He was more crabby
than his wife. Had real blue eyes (probably auburn when he was younger).

    Was a Methodist.

Had brother Jack Lamb in Cochran. Tom Lamb killed a man in Cochran and
ran away to Texas, fled the country. Pipkins is name of man he killed.
They were working together and he killed Pipkins over trouble with teams.

In 1912 Dad (Sam Hood) met family on train to Arizona in East Texas named
Lamb. Looked like his relatives in Georgia. They were going to California.

FHL Film no. 177706 says recorded 20 Sept. 1857.

Parents never married. Father may have been MORGAN because she
was known by that name also. The family tradition is that she was born
in Washington D.C. She kept her maiden name because her mother never
married as far as is known.

From "Questions and answers to a letter written to Sam Hood
    by Bertha 26 Jan. 1962.
    10. Was your Grandmother Lamb the only child her mother Emily Rogers
ever had? A. Yes, she went by the name of Robert Ann Rogers.

    11. Did your Grandmother Lamb ever know her father? A. I don't think
so. She was an only child her mother Emily Rogers ever had. Emily was
unmarried when Robert Ann Rogers was born. Robert Ann was 14 years
old when she married Floyd Lamb. She was born in 1843. Grandfather
Floyd Lamb was born in 1819.

    12. What name did she go by? Annie Morgan, Robert Ann Morgan,
    Roberta Ann Rogers or what?
    A. She went by the name of Robert Ann Rogers.

From "FLOYD LAMB AND ROBERT ANN ROGERS (MORGAN)
As Told By Sam Hood in an interview
by Bertha Hood Smith 24 Aug 1963, Ukiah, California -
    ROBERT ANN ROGERS (MORGAN)
Dark hair and black eyes, She was 24 years younger than her husband.
Neither one had ever been married before. Her mother Emily Rogers lived
with them until she died. She was probably raised in and around Yonkers,
    Georgia. Was a Baptist.

Her father was from around there--John Morgan.(Her parents were never
married. Family tradition says her family opposed the marriage.)

She was raised in a house owned by the Morgans. Husband got to Drinking
and got into debt and Morgans tried to get the property back, but she fought
them in court and kept it. From Morgan estate--mother got it before she was
    married.

    February 11,1993
Last Sunday, February 7th, a friend of mine, Billy Kimberly, Macon, Georgia. Told me he had found the grave of Henry Lamb.
The Plot' in a clump of trees, on a slight hill in a pasture less than 2 miles from where I was born and raised, is where I viewed the marker that bore this inscription:(look in Henry's notes).....
The owner of the land where the plot is, Mr Silas Chance, Jr. Told me that when he was young the grave was built up with brick but over the years had deteriorated. He also said that there were other graves there only marked with mounds of clay at an earlier time.
But ther was another well marked grave in the plot. It is a well preserved slab probable in it's rightfull place. The slab read as follows.
    Elizabeth Lamb
    Reuben Lamb's wife
Was born on the 6th October 1798
Died on the 17th Sept. 1846
In the 48th year of her age
Acccording to the book, "History of Twiggs County", Henry Lamb and brother Reuben Lamb came from North Carolina and settled in south Twiggs County where they owned much land and many servants. Henry Married Allie Howell, daughter of Sanders Howell.
To them were born eight (8) sons, (7) of them fought in the Civil War. Only (2) Doc and Henry returned from war. Ira was too young to enter army. The only other name that I know is Isom (or Ishiam)my great-great grandfather who was Benjamin Hill Lamb"s father. It is believed he died in the war and is buried in Richmond, Virginia.

How about Emmaline Rogers or Rodgers from Wilkinson Co. Ga who had a dauther Robert Ann Rogers 16 July 1843? I suppose they are related but Emmaline would most likely be Joseph Rogers daughter or neice.
