He lived in Watertown, Sudbury, Woburn,
and Charlestown, Massachusetts.
John sailed from England and it is believed arrived in Boston Bay in
1635 with his wife Mary and four children born to them to that time.
The following history involves another John who settled and died in
Newbury, Mass. who is believed to be a relative. He is also believed
to be from a contemporary family. "John and his brother Richard sailed
aboard the ship JAMES. Both were tailors and settled in Newbury, MA."
Other Marriage: "The "Genealogical and Personal Memoirs", FHL974.4D2c
indicates that John Sr. was married to Ann Ingersoll, widow of Richard
Ingersoll who died in 1644. They were located in Newbury. He was
identified as John Jr.'s father. John Jr. married Bathsheba, a daughter of
Richard Ingersoll, according to the account in the reference." The Newbury
Knights are believed to be a separate family but possibly related to them
back in Ramsey, England several generations before." John and Mary might
have sailed on the ship Bevis in May 1635/38, according to one account.
However, the following entry is found in the "Great Migration Newsletter",
Vol 7, No 4, October-December 1998: "The "James" of London sailed from
Southampton in April with passenger from Wiltshire and Hampshire, and
arrived in New England on 3 Jun (Newbury Knights)...and as we have seen
just above, another JAMES began to take on passengers at London in mid-
June and probably arrived in New England in October." This might have
been the voyage for John and Mary's family who settled in Charlestown, MA.
